There are two accepted symbols for this gate. The NOR gate is a logic gate that outputs a logic 0 in all combinations of its inputs except when they are all logic 0, in this case the output is a logic 1. Today, integrated circuits are not constructed exclusively from a single type of gate. For example, the first embedded system, the Apollo Guidance Computer, was built exclusively from NOR gates, about 5,600 in total for the later versions. Like NAND gates, NOR gates are so-called universal gates that can be combined to form any other kind of logic gate. Truth table A NOR gate is a logic gate which gives a positive output only when both inputs are negative. In other words, it produces a value of false if and only if at least one operand is true. The NOR operation is a logical operation on two logical values, typically the values of two propositions, that produces a value of true if and only if both operands are false.
